Rather than overwhelming the fish, the armour is beautifully broken and controlled, allowing that deep black base to remain the dominant feature.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThen he opens up.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis large Halfmoon caudal, substantial dorsal and flowing anal fin create a seriously imposing silhouette, with metallic rays breaking through the base of the tail and catching the light as he moves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat combination of jet-black finnage and bright metallic armour is quintessential Samurai — simple, dramatic and unmistakable. Samurai is a colour\/pattern expression rather than a tail type, so finding that look carried into a proper long-fin Halfmoon gives it a completely different presence from the more commonly seen HMPK form. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI’ve brought a lot of different Bettas through Obsidian, but Samurai Halfmoons remain one of my staple favourites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo huge collection of colours needed here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBlack.
