At Obsidian Betta Co., the welfare of our fish always comes first.

Unlike many online purchases, live fish cannot simply be placed in a box and shipped on any day of the week. To minimise risk and ensure every fish arrives in the best possible condition, we operate a controlled shipping schedule.

Why Do I Need To Select A Shipping Date?

When ordering from Obsidian, you will be asked to select an available dispatch date during checkout.

This is intentional.

Live fish should never be left sitting in courier depots over weekends or bank holidays. By carefully controlling our dispatch schedule, we can ensure your fish spends the minimum possible time in transit.

Our shipping calendar has been designed around:

How Are Fish Shipped?

Every fish is individually packed using professional fish shipping methods and insulated packaging where required.

All fish are health checked before dispatch and carefully prepared to minimise stress during transport.

What If My Preferred Date Isn't Available?

The available dates shown at checkout represent the safest dispatch dates available at that time.

If you require a specific shipping arrangement, please contact us before placing your order and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

It may not always be the fastest option, but it is the safest.

We would rather delay a shipment by a few days than take unnecessary risks with the welfare of the fish entrusted to our care.

Local Delivery

For customers located within driving distance of Obsidian Betta Co., local delivery is available as an alternative to courier shipping.

Personal delivery allows fish to be transported with minimal stress while giving customers greater flexibility on receiving their new arrival.

Local Delivery (Within 15 Miles)

Available for customers located within approximately 15 miles of our base in Ayrshire.

Extended Delivery (15-35 Miles)

£12

Available for customers located between 15 and 35 miles from our base.

Further Distances

If you are located beyond 35 miles and would prefer a personal delivery service, please contact us prior to placing your order.

Where practical, we will be happy to provide a quotation based on distance and travel requirements.
