Obsidian Betta Co. was founded from a simple frustration — exceptional betta fish were becoming increasingly difficult to source with confidence.
Too often, the fish advertised online looked nothing like the fish that arrived. Quality was inconsistent, genetics were poorly represented, and genuine care for presentation and standards felt secondary to volume.
What began with a single betta quickly became an obsession with rare genetics, selective sourcing, and creating a collection built around quality rather than quantity.
Today, Obsidian Betta Co. focuses on carefully selected bettas sourced from trusted breeders, with an emphasis on structure, finnage, colour development, health, and individuality. Every fish is chosen intentionally, photographed honestly, and presented exactly as it is.
Our goal is not to become the largest betta retailer in the UK.
Our goal is to build a boutique brand recognised for authenticity, presentation, and uncompromising standards.
As the brand evolves, Obsidian will continue developing carefully planned breeding projects focused on distinctive halfmoon, dumbo, blue rim, samurai, and specialty lines — always prioritising quality over scale.
