Blue Butterfly Large-Fin HMPK Male Betta | WYSIWYG

Another of the Large-Fin HMPKs, and this boy is a perfect example of why I’m becoming such a fan of this form.

He has a beautifully clean metallic blue body, shifting between steel blue, royal blue and turquoise depending on the light. That strong colour then breaks into dramatically paler icy blue and almost white Butterfly finnage, with the slightest hints of pink appearing through the fins at certain angles.

It’s a relatively simple colour palette, but that’s exactly what makes him work.

Then there’s the finnage.

He carries considerably more fin than you would expect from a traditional HMPK, particularly through that broad caudal and oversized dorsal. It gives him much of the flowing, showy presence people love about a Halfmoon while retaining the activity and inquisitive nature of a Plakat.

That’s rapidly becoming the reason I love these Large-Fin HMPKs so much.

Big enough to show off. Compact enough to stay seriously active.
